During the midday BWO hatch, drop down to 6X tippet and watch for subtle sipping rises in the tailouts — those fish are keyed in tight and will refuse a dragging fly every time. As the sun drops off the canyon walls in the late afternoon, switch to a caddis dry and work the riffled edges where trout will be actively feeding before dark.
