Henry's Fork

Henry’s Fork still offers some of the best top-water fishing in the region.  PMDs are on the water everywhere, with activity peaks from mid-morning to midafternoon. Major evening caddis activity continues up and down the river. Box Canyon, a bit tough on wading, is in ideal flow for drift boating but is attracting recreational floaters.  Dry-dropper rigs are working there. PMD, flav and caddis life cycle patterns are bringing trout up especially on overcast days from Last Chance through the Harriman State Park section.  Some terrestrial insects are beginning to appear and with the normal warming trend will become more important for trout. From Warm River on downstream summer heat makes early and late in the day best time to fish. Dry-dropper rigs and PMD life cycle patterns work well throughout the lower river. Be ready to share this great time with other fly fishers and recreational floaters from Box Canyon downstream to Chester Dam. Flow at Box Canyon is about 1280 cfs, below Ashton Dam is about 1750 cfs and about 975 cfs at St. Anthony.
