HENRY'S LAKE
ReportHenry's Lake, November 4th, 2026. Presenting streamer, leech, and woolly bugger patterns with a slow retrieve is now a good way to attract trout during windy conditions. Strong windy conditions make boating very dangerous, and such can come up from the southeast and north in an instant.
When wind calms, trying nymph, scud, and midge life cycle patterns under an indicator in shallow water can be productive. Trout are cruising the shallows near weed beds, creek mouths, drop-offs, and adjacent to spring holes.
Start fishing from first light to midday, when action slows.
| Insect | Size | Activity | Prime Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Midges | #18–22 | Moderate — life cycle patterns under indicator | Morning to midday, calm conditions |
| Leeches | #10–14 | Strong — slow retrieve near structure and drop-offs | First light through midday, especially during wind |
| Scuds | #12–16 | Steady — trout cruising shallow weed beds | Morning, calm wind windows |
| General Nymphs | #12–16 | Moderate — indicator fishing in shallows | Morning to midday, calm conditions |
- FIRST LIGHT TO MIDDAY: Prime action window — fish streamers, leeches, and woolly bugger patterns with a slow retrieve; switch to nymphs, scuds, and midge life cycle patterns under an indicator when wind allows
- CALM WIND PERIODS (ANY TIME): Indicator nymphing in shallow water near weed beds, creek mouths, drop-offs, and spring holes is most productive when the surface is flat
- WINDY CONDITIONS: Slow-retrieve streamers and leech patterns; use extra caution on the water and be ready to come off the lake immediately if wind builds
